Celebrate Earth Day in Your Classroom
A day of environmental education, action, and change, Earth Day is an annual celebration of our planet and a time to reflect on how to best care for it. This year marks the 35th anniversary of Earth Day, founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson in an effort to publicize the degradation of the environment and attract political attention to these issues.

Today, Earth Day continues the tradition of highlighting areas of need in the environment. Though still largely a grassroots effort, Earth Day has managed to gain national recognition and achieve large scale change through small scale forums. Thousands of people participate in Earth Day within their communities, attending events from educational fairs, to neighborhood clean up projects, to large scale protests. Each activity on Earth Day, whether planting a garden in an urban area or picking up trash in your own yard, is charged with the mission to care for our planet and ensure a sustainable future on earth for all living things.

The science involved in preservation and ecology allow for an easy integration of Earth Day discussion and activities in the science classroom. While your students learn how to be better global citizens through activities like recycling and water conservation, they will also discover important scientific concepts.

To help, WARD'S has a variety of environmental science lab activities to teach your students about these issues. And as part of our celebration, we're offering 10% off our environmental lab activities category and free shipping on all orders over $100.
