Praying Mantis Egg Cases |
|
Tenodera aridifolia sinensis. A fascinating predator to study; as it lies in wait for its prey, its posture makes it appear to be praying, giving the insect its common name. Simply store the egg cases in a refrigerator until you are ready to use them; they will hatch in three to six weeks at room temperature, and will mature in three months. Culture instructions are included. Package of three.

- Tuesday, August 18, 2009 Few hatched Reviewed By: John (San Diego, ca) Ordered these and have purchased from others. Others did not have at the time. These took way longer than other vendors to hatch.
- Monday, April 06, 2009 Praying mantis Reviewed By: MJohnson (Toledo, Ohio) I had a few hatch last week so I put the egg cases back into the cupboard. They need warmth and humidity to hatch. This morning I have a lot of them. I'd say that almost all have now hatched. Now what to feed them all!
- Friday, April 24, 2009 Mantis redux Reviewed By: MJohnson (Toledo, OHIO) Addendum to my previous post: I would recommend the egg cases be kept cool until warm weather is imminent. That way you can let them go after observing. Then they can forage for their food.
