WARD’S Acetate Crystal Model Set |
Clarify Difficult-to-Explain Crystal Structures |
Sturdy construction of this six-model set, a WARD’S exclusive, makes it a permanent classroom addition. Clear acetate reveals several aspects of each form, from pinacoids and prism faces externally, to simple pyramids internally. A brass mounting rod serves both as a crystallographic axis and a shaft for rotating each model on its labeled wooden base. A white cord serves as an axis, and black lines on the outer model illustrate yet another form. The set comes with a study guide. Size: 4–6″.

- Tuesday, February 24, 2009 Acetate Crystal Model Reviewed By: Stan (Glendale, Arizona) These are very useful in viewing crystal axis for the main systems. They are not substantial enough to permit student handling. They do make a great display.
On the negative side the yellow tape used to hold the acetate sheets in place began to pull away and the sheets became curved and even separated in places. It made them look very cheap. I can understand the use of the tape to provide a vivid outline of the crystal shape but gluing the acetate sheet edges would have made the models last longer.
