Various types of bacteria and fungi are able to survive extreme conditions that would irreparably harm other lifeforms. Extreme heat, freezing, drying, and chemical disinfectants are only four of the suggested environments to which the included bacteria and fungi cultures can be subjected over the course of several days. In addition, students are encouraged to develop their own experiments.
