WARD’S Introduction to PAGE Lab Activity
Complete a Basic Electrophoresis Procedure in Only 45 Minutes with Inexpensive Dyes
Introduction to PAGE Lab Activity

This electrophoresis exercise is the perfect way to introduce students to protein analysis. They’ll electrophorese five dye markers and a mixture of dyes to determine their molecular weights without staining or destaining. In addition, the electrophoresis results are easy to see because the dyes create brightly colored bands as they migrate down the gel. The lab activity can be completed in one 45-minute lab session and comes with enough samples and reagents to run up to ten gels, a teacher’s guide, and student copymaster. A vertical PAGE chamber, power supply, 10 μL micropipets, and precast polyacrylamide 6–14% gradient borate gels, all required, are available separately.
