WARD’S DNA Fingerprinting with PAGE Lab Activity |

DNA fingerprinting, used in a variety of applications, can be re-created in the lab with our activity package. Students electrophorese three DNA samples, two unknown and one known standard. They then compare the number and position of the bands using a standard curve plot and Rƒ values to determine the individual genetic “fingerprint” for each sample. The kit contains enough samples and reagents to run up to eight gels, a teacher’s guide, and student copymaster. A vertical PAGE chamber, power supply, 10 μL micropipets, and precast polyacrylamide 3–8% gradient borate gels, all required, are available separately. Note: Coupon included for perishable materials.
