Developing a fermentation product that’s actually sold commercially will drive home the usefulness and effectiveness of fermentation in the real world. With this lab activity, students produce a safe, commercial bioinsecticide, effective against various mosquito larvae, then conduct a bioassay to test its effectiveness.
