Light enough to use a hand line for sampling, yet durable enough to sample in firm or hard clay bottoms that are free from stones and other coarse debris. One of the two scoops has an underlip to push aside any pebbles that try to prevent closing and the removable top screens allow sub-sampling from the closed jaws. These screens also have rubber flaps to prevent sample wash-out during retrieval. The Pinch-Pin self-release mechanism works when the sampler hits the bottom and/or when the line becomes slack. The dredge features a center pivot closing action that minimizes sample disturbance, stainless steel jaws, zinc-plated arms and weights, and a “Safety Pin” lock. It can sample an area of 6 square inches and retrieve a volume of 2 1/2 L. Weight: 15 lbs.
