All of the components needed to perform the investigation measuring cellular respiration are included in one comprehensive lab activity. This lab also contains WARD’S unique respirometers. These require no assembly and are ready to measure the oxygen consumption of germinating and nongerminating peas. The effect of temperature on the rate of respiration is also studied. A thorough introduction covers the principles of cellular respiration, glycolysis, fermentation, Krebs Cycle, and gas laws, including how they relate to the function of a respirometer, while additional investigations provide students with the opportunity to explore related concepts in depth.
