WARD’S Sherlock Bones: Identification of Skeletal Remains Lab Activity |
Developed with the Aid of a Practicing Forensic Anthropologist |
This fascinating lab familiarizes students with actual techniques used in forensics to identify and assess skeletal indicators. The students will use math and observational skills to analyze the included skeletal remains of an unknown subject. With the help of measuring tools they will determine the sex, height, race, and approximate age of the individual at the time of death. This protocol can be used in conjunction with other skeletal material that you may have available. The activity includes enough materials for four setups, numerous reference photos featuring key anatomical structures, a teacher’s guide, and student copymaster. Activity is designed for highschool students and above.

- Friday, October 30, 2009 Excellent premise...but 3 activities are different Reviewed By: Wood (Lincolnshire, IL) Overall this is an excellent activity for high school anatomy students. The student instructions definitely need to be re-tooled (some of the instructional photos are small and undefined...making it difficult to clarify the written directions).
