While most food products we buy have ingredients listed, how do we know what’s really in them? Students utilize chemicals and test solutions (included) to define and test for the presence of additives, preservatives, emulsifiers, stabilizers, thickeners, and non-calorie sweeteners. They’ll also learn to identify sugars, lipids, starches, and proteins; detect iodine in salt; test vitamin C; and more. The kit includes enough materials for 24 students.
