Detect small changes in volume resulting from the exchange of gases in photosynthesis or respiration. Two volumeters and a thermobarometer are suspended in a single vessel, which serves as a one-gallon waterbath. You place the living specimen in one or both of the clear volumeter tubes and a drop of colored water introduced into the system moves along a calibrated tube in response to oxygen/carbon dioxide exchange of the specimen.
