Eurypterus lacustris (Merostomata) |
| (Silurian) New York |
One of the finest historical examples of a “sea scorpion” to ever come out of the famous Buffalo Cement Quarry, this spectacular eurypterid was once acquired by Ward and Howell in the 1880s and still bears a portion of their original hand-written label. It is surely one of the finest examples of this species ever available. The specimen is 12″L, both the swimming paddles and telson are completely preserved, and it is completely free of any cracks or repairs. The specimen is centered on and contrasts with a solid matrix of Bertie waterlime. Overall size: 17 1/2″L x 13″W x 3 1/2″H.
