Pisolites are distinctive accretionary bodies often formed of calcium carbonate produced by a biochemical algal encrustation process. These sawn and lacquered slabs are classic examples of this structure found in the limestones of the Capitan Reef complex in New Mexico. Average size: 3″ x 4″.
