| Anodize Titanium Using Different Voltages and Exposure Times |
Demonstrate the anodizing process, wave properties of light, balanced chemical equations, and more with this reusable kit. Using Titanium strips and a few common materials, students vary the voltage and exposure time of anodization to determine that the thickness of the oxide is related to the color of light reflected. The investigation reinforces knowledge about anodes and cathodes as well as the thin film interference of light. Repeatedly perform the outlined experiments after sanding the oxide off the titanium strips. The set includes materials for six setups, instructions, explanations, and discussion questions. Requires eighteen 9V batteries, not included.
